Are services available virtually or in-person?

At this time, therapy and assessment services are available virtually throughout Ontario, using videoconference technology that is user-friendly and compliant with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Training and consultation services are available virtually throughout Ontario, or in-person in the Ottawa area.

What are the current rates for psychological services?

Current rates for psychological services are consistent with general guidelines set out by the Ontario Psychological Association and vary depending on the type of service. Therapy services are billed at an hourly rate. Assessment services are billed at an hourly rate, accounting for time in-session as well as documentation time. Training and consultation rates depend on the nature of the engagement. For more specific information, please contact us for further details.

Are the fees covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)?

OHIP does not cover fees for private psychological services. However, many insurance plans/benefits packages will cover part or all of the cost. The amount of coverage available may vary from one insurance policy to another. If you have an insurance plan (e.g., through your employer), we suggest that you review your policy with your insurance company to find out how much coverage is available for psychological services.

What can I expect from the initial phone consultation for therapy or assessment?

The initial consultation is a free, 10-15 minute phone call during which you will be asked to provide a brief description of the concerns or difficulties for which you are seeking therapy and/or assessment services. This consultation helps with treatment and/or assessment planning, or possible referral to other services if it appears our services may not be appropriate for your needs.

What is the cancellation policy for therapy or assessment sessions?

Regular attendance contributes to obtaining the greatest benefit from treatment. That said, we understand there may be need to cancel your appointment for various reasons. If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be subject to the full session fee.
